Afternoon Update

So, after 30 minutes on hold with Chuck's maker, I spoke to a service tech who said, "yes, you could have low coolant.  Find the surge tank on top of the grill add some coolant and if that doesn't work, call this different number".  Back to the rig, took the bikes off the back, took the bike rack off and opened the grill found the surge tank and could see that the level was at the minimum mark.  Eureka!  Added coolant, closed the grill, put the bike rack back and the bikes back and hopefully we're good to go for tomorrow.
Fixing Chuck

Unfortunately his tip for resetting the thermostat didn't help so we'll limp along with just one air conditioner for now.  Fortunately it cools off to 40 deg. at night so sleeping is no problem.  Also, I discovered a way to save on laundry:  I dribbled salsa on my shirt on lunch today, (great Mexican restaurant called Escobar's in Kanab) looked down and realized that I had put it on inside out.  The hazards of getting dressed in the dark.  So now I can just turn it back around the right way and no one will see the salsa.

Did I mention that when we Skyped this morning, we didn't have a working microphone so that it was Skype with reading lips, writing notes on napkins and hand signals?  We now have an mike, so hopefully that will be better next time.

Everyone wants the driver's seat
Two steps forward, one back.

Tomorrow - on to Moab.  Keep your fingers crossed for us.

  1. Note that one of us has to stand on a box to reach the coolant fill on the surge tank.
