On the Road Again

Today we leave Sedalia, MO and the Escapade.  It's been a fun week, we've made some new friends and we've learned a lot.  Enough to make us more fearful and more confident at the same time.  We had some retail therapy at the Marketplace the last couple of days buying carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, extra clips for the tow bar, etc.  One additional trip to Walmart and Ace Hardware added to our toolbag so we should be ready.

One last rally item before we leave, we get weighed today.  Yes, Chuck, Toad, Robin, Katie, Xena and Beanie.  Luckily we can all be in the rig except Toad so we can't assign to blame to Xena or Beanie if we're overweight.  Actually, it's a safety thing where they weigh the weight each tire and axle is carrying along with the total weight to make sure we haven't overloaded Chuck in any one area or overall.  There are only a few places in the country that do this so we're lucky to have the opportunity.

In the photo you can just see the scale placed in front of the wheel.  We'll drive up on the scales, they will check the weights, tire pressure, load capability and advise us of any changes we need to make.  Hopefully that slab of ribs I had for dinner last night will be buried in Chuck's 32,000 lbs.  We have made a dent in the wine supply so that should help.

Next stop is Emporia, KS, about 200 miles from here which we're planning on reaching this afternoon.  It should be just an overnighter on our way to Durango, CO.  I'm not sure how often we'll have Internet access for the next couple of days so updates may be scarce.  Everybody hum Willie Nelson's "On The Road Again" now.

  1. If we don't see you around today, goodbye and safe travels. Enjoyed meeting you and visiting with the kitties too. Remember, our driveway is available anytime!
